Coming from abroad is really hard for me to understand all the TV shows and their real recipe for success, but DEAL or NO DEAL is with a wide abroad production and I am really familiar with it, because it is one of the most popular quiz shows in my country. Despite the big difference in the audience and the amount that is given in the game there are some things that are the same for every country broadcasting the show.
What I really like in that programme is that there is a lot of pressure and thrills of the game. Simple – boxes hiding the numbers according to the amount that the contestant can gain. Just has to chose them and to eliminate the amount. But one of the most stressful things is that no one has any idea what is in the box and what amount will be taken out of the game. The surprise when they and the audience see the numbers is big. This all up to the luck of the person. The mystery in something is really interesting for the others. Hiding the identity and and even the face of the banker is really good choice. There is just a phone ringing. There is just a voice who can be heart only of the host and the contestant. The audience doesn’t really know if there is someone on the other side or not, but believes that there is. Something really important about that format is the host. I’ve watched a few broadcasts of the show in different countries and the host is always really passionate and active with the real ability to provoke the other person. It is really important in that game the host to react adequately and without telling something to tell it.
The essential thing in that show is actually the contestant. I believe that they are chosen in special criteria. They must be interesting people even if they are not, the host has to make them act interesting. It all about the luck and the braveness of the people who just has to choose the right box, to take the deal or to reject it. It is all about small , but important decisions making them earning a lot of money.
